The Children of the Lamp Wiki

Decanting is the process that occurs when a djinn separates their transubstantiated self from their spirit, leaving the body inside a container (such as a lamp). During the process, the djinn turns into his or her natural element and turns into their true form. When decanting, it is more effective to do it while exhaling rather than inhaling. Inhaling is used to get back into the body. Nimrod mentions that this is where the modern day humans get the idea of breathing for things such as yoga. Decanting is differs from transubstantiation, where a djinn turns into smoke. Decanting focuses on extracting the air and freeing spirit inside of you.

Appearances[]

This is first done where John and Nimrod had to decant in order to keep their bodies safe inside a lamp, while they were able to roam free, possessing the body of twin jaguars.
